This very rare Album quilt is from Indiana and is circa 1890-1900. Generally each square of an Album quilt is different in some way from every other, though in this 20-square quilt there are at least two squares that appear similar, if not identical. The quilting is by hand and is in intricate scallops or half-circles, with 10-12 stitches per inch.
The back is white cotton and the binding is a yellow calico that matches the yellow border fabric and has been hand-stitched to both sides.
The quilt is in excellent condition, with the only area of obvious wear to the outer, green border row where in several places there is fabric deterioration. See photos.
The quilt is clean, very soft and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 77 inches by 90 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
