Sunbonnet Sue quilts were first seen in the 1880s and became very popular in the 1920s and 1930s. This one is from the 1930s and has been extensively quilted as can be seen in the photos. Like all Sunbonnet Sue quilts, none of the blocks depict Sunbonnet Sue's face and each Sunbonnet Sue's clothing is made of a different feedsack fabric. In addition to being pieced and quilted, each Sunbonnet Sue is also outlined with embroidery and flowers, hat details and hands have been added with embroidery. Unfortunately in a couple of the squares, Sunbonnet Sue's fabrics have deteriorated (see photos), but the quilt is in generally good condition with no holes or discolorations that I could find
The quilt is clean and measures 74 inches by 82 1/2 inches. It is shown on a queen bed. From a smoke-free and pet-free home.
