This Straight Furrows Log Cabin TOP ONLY is circa 1890s. It is a beautifully executed combination of colors with the red square in the middle of each block providing a "pop".
It is actually more than a quilt top since the top was pieced in a block method which in this case means the top strips were basted to 9-inch by 9-inch cotton/feedsack blocks and then all of the blocks (49 of them) were sewn together. The strips that make up the log cabins are very narrow - less than 1/2 inch.
This quilt top is in excellent condition. No stains or holes. Quilt top only - needs batting and to be quilted.
It is clean and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 66 inches by 66 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
