  • Details
Intricate appliqued tent panels called "khayamiya" have been an art form in Egypt since at least medieval times. They are made by specially trained artisans for a variety of purposes: from massive tents for royal celebrations to small wall hangings for tourists. This is an example of a khayamiya made for tourists sometime between 1900 and the early 1920s. Egyptian art was very popular at that time and became even more so after the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922.

This one is particularly impressive for its intricate details and the variety of Egyptian history depicted, including the Pyramids and various well-known hieroglyphics.

This khayamiya is in excellent condition with no condition issues noted.

It is approximately 29 inches by 56 inches. From a smoke-free and pet-free home.
