This Boston Commons Quilt is circa 1920s-1930s and has been hand-stitched and hand-quilted. Unfortunately, it has experienced fabric loss that in some spots has turned into holes (see photos), Though about 90 percent of the quilt is completely intact, areas along the borders have deteriorated extensively and there is also fabric loss and several small (1/4 inch) holes in other areas that do not go through to the back.
The quilting is in double diagonals along the four-sided border and well as in outlines of the patchwork and twisted rope patterns in the body of the quilt.
The back is a deep purple that has also experienced some fabric loss in several locations, but has been turned to the front and machine stitched to form the binding which is intact and not fraying. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
Due to the issues described above the quilt is in fair to poor "cutter" condition.
The quilt is clean, soft and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 75 inches by 78 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
