Antique Diamond Field Cutter Quilt: 1890-1910; (72" x 84")

This Diamond Field Quilt made in 1890-1910 has been hand-stitched and hand-quilted in outlines of the more than 4,000 hexagons. The quilt is unique in that from a distance it looks like interlocking 3-D blocks and it has a beautiful, unique diamond-and-star embellishment between the hexagon flower gardens.

Unfortunately, this lovely quilt is in poor condition with fabric loss in multiple hexagons, primarily in those in and around the border, as well as a fraying binding -- please see photos. As a ratio, about 80 percent of the quilt is intact.

The back is off-white muslin that is generally in excellent condition, while the binding is pink cotton that has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is very lightweight.

Due to the damage described above and visible in the photos, the quilt is in poor or cutter/crafting condition.

The quilt is clean, soft and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 72 inches by 84 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
