Antique Pre-Civil War “Union” Jacquard Wool woven coverlet - William McClellan, 1839. Blue, red, and gold, with a building and "UNION" border, 90 by 71". According to Anderson, American Coverlets and Their Weavers, McClellan was Scottish-born and had a weaving shop in the small town of Nankin, Ohio.
Provenance: a Pennsylvania collection. Clean. Has two areas of damage as shown in the photos. Comes from a smoke-free, pet-free home. Pictured on a queen bed.
