Antique Broken Dishes Quilt: Hand-Quilted 1890s (76x76 inches)

This Broken Dishes Variation Antique Quilt is circa 1890-1900 and is made up of more than 1,000 triangles that have been hand-pieced and hand-stitched together. The quilting is also by hand in arches or a shell pattern.

The back is a beautiful green and gold stripe that has been turned to the front and machine stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent condition, with several seam separations in the triangles. The cotton batting is the old, carded type that sometimes bunches. In this case, there is one small "bunch" of about 3-inches square, but it is not noticeable unless you run your hand over that part of the quilt.

This lovely quilt is clean and soft and measures 76 inches by 76 inches. From a smoke-free, pet-free home. Shown on a queen bed.
