This is a Hovering Hawks Quilt from the late 1800s (1870-1890). The hand-quilted stitches are tiny and the patchwork has been expertly pieced. The quilting is in diamonds and diagonals and there is a border on the top and bottom of the quilt.
The back is yellow cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with some age-related fading of the fabrics.
The quilt measures 60 inches by 76 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Shown on a queen-size bed.
