This Strength in Union Quilt, circa 1930s, has been hand-quilted in tiny, precise stitches. The quilting outlines the patchwork and is in double-diagonals through the large triangle pieces and through the narrow, four-sided white cotton border.
The back is a white cotton while the front border material has been turned to the back and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent condition with slight fraying of the binding, some age-related fading of the fabrics and one light tan spot that did not come out in a soak (see last photo).
The quilt measures 63 inches by 76 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Shown on a queen-size bed.
