This Rose of Sharon Quilt, circa 1880-1900, has a serpentine border around all four sides and split corners at the bottom two corners for a four poster bed. It has been hand-appliqued and hand-quilted in very tiny stiches. The quilting outlines the applique and is in flowers in the larger white blocks.
The back is pink cotton that has been machine-stitched to the front. There is no batting in this summer weight quilt.
The quilt is in excellent antique condition with some age-related uneven fading of the fabrics.
The quilt measures 72 by 90 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Pictured on a queen-size bed.
