This Eight-Pointed Star Antique Quilt is circa 1930s and uses feedsack fabrics and muslin in the patchwork as well as the borders. Muslin often lined the feed and flour sacks so it was as readily available as the feedsacks themselves.

The hand-stitching on the quilt ranges from tiny, intricate stitches to some larger and charmingly askew stitching, perhaps because there was more than one quilter. The quilting, also by hand, is in outlines, small checkerboard patterns, and straight lines through the borders.

The cotton batting is lightweight. The muslin back has been turned to the front and is hand-stitched to the front, forming the binding.

The quilt appears to have been unused. It is in excellent condition, but has some tiny dots of discoloration/moisture marks on a few of the muslin squares, which likely happened while stored away.

The quilt is clean and soft and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 64 inches by 88 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
