Bold Squares Antique Quilt; Circa 1908; vintage quilt; handmade quilt; antique quilt; hand quilted; 82" x 84"

This Bold Squares Pattern Quilt is dated 1908 and was clearly cherished as it has never been used. It comes from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It is entirely hand-quilted, with the most impressive quilting on the very wide border (11.5 inches on all four sides) where a braided rope pattern has been meticulously quilted in very tiny stitches. The quilting on the body of the quilt is also in tiny stitches in outlines of the piecework.

The back is a beautiful tan and mahogany floral, while the binding has a geometric design and has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is very lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent, unused condition, with the only condition issue noted being two small tan dots on the yellow fabric to the upper-left of the dated square. See photos.

This lovely quilt is clean and soft and measures 82 inches by 84 inches. From a smoke-free, pet-free home. Shown on a queen bed.
