This is a lovely Granny Square Quilt, circa 1890-1910, and has been hand-stitched and hand-quilted. The patchwork squares are tiny - 3/4-inch -- and there are more than 4,000 of them. The hand-quilting is in tiny stitches in precise crisscrosses through the patchwork and in very small diamonds along the four-sided green border.
The back is green cotton while the very narrow binding is a tan and brown print that has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent antique condition with no condition issues noted.
It is clean, soft and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 76 inches by 89 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
