This is a rare and difficult pattern called "Wheel of Mysterie" or "Winding Ways", circa 1920-1930s, and on top of the expert piecing it has been beautifully quilted in tiny stitches. Some of the white blocks have been quilted in the middle with tiny flowers while others have been quilted in concentric mountain peaks. There is a four-inch white border on the top and bottom that is quilted in diagonal lines.
The back is bright white cotton as is the binding which has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is lightweight.
This lovely quilt is in excellent condition with one tiny (less than 1/16 inch) tan mark on one white block.
It is approximately 50 inches by 80 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Pictured on a queen-size bed.
