  • Details
This is a North Star Quilt, circa 1910-1920s. This pattern seems to have had a spurt of popularity between 1910 and the early 1920s according to the Quilting Index - a now digital index documenting quilts owned by residents of New England and some of the surrounding areas.

The hand-quilting is primarily in outlines of the piecework and in diamonds along the four-sided border. The back is off-white muslin while the binding is pink cotton that has been machine stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent antique condition with some fading of the pink fabric along the border.

It is clean, very soft and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 66 inches by 74 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
