This is a very old Barnraising Log Cabin Quilt, circa 1850s-1860s. Though the colors have faded with time, there is still a very nice contrast between the light and dark fabrics that give a nice "pop" to the pattern. The quilting has been done by hand in a diagonal pattern throughout the quilt.
The back is a lovely beige fabric with floral bouquets that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in very good vintage condition with the age-related fading of fabrics as mentioned above and as can be seen in the photos, and some beginning deterioration of the red floral fabric, most notably in spots along the center line where it appears the quilt was folded, rather than rolled, for a long period of time. Limited to 10 photos here, but happy to send additional photos upon request.
The quilt measures 74 inches by 75 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Shown on a queen-size bed.
