This is an elaborate and beautiful Crazy Quilt made sometime between 1890 and 1900. It has fans, embroidery, initials, names (including "Mother" and "Father"), flowers, and other embellishments filling up virtually every scrap of the top fabric. The fabrics are primarily satins and velvets with feedsacks used as the foundation - as can be seen on the back of the quilt (see photos).
Like many crazy quilts, this one does not have a back except for the feedsacks, and there is no batting.
It is in excellent condition and, because there do not appear to be any silks, there are no shattered fabrics.
It measures 62 by 74 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It is shown on a queen-size bed.
