Rare 1880-1890s Album Quilt with chintz back; Antique Quilt; Vintage Quilt; cottagecore

This is a beautiful and rare Album quilt, circa 1880s-1890s, and comes from a Pennsylvania collector. The quilt is made up of 25 full blocks, 12 half blocks, along with four triangular blocks with a leaf motif at each corner and a double red and green border that wraps around all four sides.

No two blocks are the same and each is perfectly pieced in some of the most difficult patterns, including stars made of tiny diamonds and blocks made of dozens of very small triangles, like the Tree of Life.

Each of the blocks has been hand-stitched and this is especially apparent in the applique work where the tiny stitching can be seen along the stems of the flowers. The quilting is also by hand in very tiny stitches and is in a diamond pattern throughout the quilt.

The back is a pink, green and blue floral chintz, while the binding is made from the green border fabric that has been turned to the back and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is very lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent, unused condition, with no condition issues noted.

The quilt comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 79 inches by 83 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
