This Texas Pointer Quilt is circa 1880s-1890s and comes from the Rhinebeck/Ichabod Crane area of New York.
The quilting is in outlines of the patchwork and in concentric circles in the middle of each block and in diagonal lines through the diamond border.
The back is a beautiful red cotton with tiny yellow flowers that has been turned to the front and hand stitched in teeny tiny stitches to form the very narrow binding. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent, antique condition with one silver-dollar-size spot where the gold fabric has faded to white (see photos) and two other much smaller (about 1/8-1/4 inch) spots where it has done the same.
It is approximately 64 inches by 74 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Pictured on a queen-size bed.
