This Crown of Thorns Antique Quilt is circa 1910-1920s and is all hand-stitched and hand-quilted. The piecing is beautifully precise - the points are sharp and come together with no gaps. The quilting is just as precise and in tiny stitches in the form of diamonds in the white spaces and in diagonals through the patchwork.
The back is white cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent antique condition with slight age-related fading of the red fabrics, one tiny tan line - 1/4 inch - that did not come out in a soak and several spots of fraying on the binding.
It is clean, soft and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 79 inches by 80 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
