Antique Lady of the Lake Quilt: 1890s-1910; Hand-quilted (76x78 inches)

This Lady of the Lake Antique Quilt is circa 1890s-1910 and has been expertly pieced and hand-quilted. The piecing is beautifully precise - the points are sharp and line up perfectly. The quilting is in tiny stitches in the form of diamonds in the large white and green areas and in outlines of the smaller patchwork. There is a four-sided, inverted triangle border.

The back is white cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form an impossibly narrow binding. The cotton batting is very lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent antique condition with age-related fading of the fabrics and fraying of the binding. And though it's not really a condition issue (since it's original to the quilt) there is also a spot where a feedsack stamp shows through the front (see photos).

It is clean, soft and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 76 inches by 78 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
