This Iris Flower Quilt, circa 1930s-1940s, has been meticulously hand-quilted and hand-embroidered. The quilting is in tiny stitches and in patterns of diamonds and parallel lines and in outlines of the hand-appliqued Irises. There is a four-sided cheddar and black border that has also been quilted in diamonds and parallel lines.
The back is white cotton while the binding is cheddar cotton that has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent condition with some very light orange color transfer to some of the flower blocks and what appears to be spots of black color transfer to the back in one corner.
The quilt measures 69 inches by 84 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Shown on a queen-size bed.
